Two-time Grammy Winner and Six-Time Nominee Ann Nesby to perform at the 66th Annual Grammy Award for a musical performance honoring The Black Godfather, Clarence Avant.

  

February 2, 2024 (Los Angeles, CA) – Ann Nesby, the dynamic two-time Grammy winner and six-time nominee, is set to perform in a stirring musical tribute at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, celebrating the legacy of the legendary music executive and film producer Clarence Avant, affectionately known as "The Black Godfather." The Grammy Awards will broadcast live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, February 4, at 8 PM EST.

 

In what promises to be an unforgettable performance, Nesby will share the stage with luminaries such as Jon Batiste, Cory Henry, and the iconic duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, paying homage to Clarence Avant's monumental impact on the music industry and his tireless advocacy for the rights and representation of Black artists. Avant, a towering figure in entertainment who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, passed away in late 2023, leaving behind a legacy of profound influence and inspiration.

 

Ann Nesby, celebrated for her electrifying voice and commanding presence, first rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Sounds of Blackness. With the group, she earned two Grammy wins for Best Gospel Album with The Evolution of the Drum and Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album with Handel's Messiah: A Soulful Celebration. As a solo artist, Nesby has been recognized with six Grammy nominations, spanning categories from Best Traditional R&B Performance to Best Gospel Performance, showcasing her versatile talent and enduring impact on the music industry.
