Justin O. Cooper is an international creative consultant and owner of JOC Media & Entertainment. He specializes in film & TV production, marketing communications, and music entertainment solutions. For 20 years his innovative and resourceful business approach has promoted and increased brand awareness, economic growth & development, and garnered hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue for the companies and clients he’s worked with and represented.
Currently representing the interests of The Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC); Family Film (Hungary, Serbia, and Romania); Benetone Films (Thailand); and Film in India, Cooper is their respective emissary to Hollywood studios, executives, and producers. His focus is keen on international physical production, location support services, and film incentives all of which promote economic development in these regions. Since 2017 he’s supported internationally shot productions from Walt Disney Studios (ALADDIN), LucasFilm Ltd. (STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER) and Legendary Entertainment (DUNE).
Domestically, he’s managed on-location production for Southern Regional Medical Center - Atlanta (SRMC) from 2011 - 2014 for a bevy of TV series and features that include WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING (Lionsgate); RIDE ALONG (Universal Pictures); RESURRECTION (ABC Networks); and BEING MARY JANE (BET Networks). His efforts garnered more than half a million dollars in location fees that were used to offset the cost of patient's medical bills at SRMC.
As a marketing communication professional, he wears the hats of creative services manager, journalist, and publicist. He’s worked on national and international campaigns, conferences, and festivals for FORTUNE 100 company, New York Life Insurance’s African American Market Unit’s $50 Billion Empowerment Plan 2019; the Association of Film Commissioners International’s Locations Show 2016 & 2017; and RFC exhibitions at the Cannes Film Festival, American Film Market, and FOCUS-London. He is the publisher & editor-in-chief of entertainment lifestyle micropublication, SOLIVAGANT and has earned media placements and bylines have appeared in The New York Times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Music Industry Quarterly, and others.
Within music entertainment, he is a music supervisor and has worked on regional and national TV ad campaigns clearing music for use by SONY/ATV, EMI Music Publishing, Universal Music Group, and Tyscot Records. In 2010, Cooper became a SESAC affiliate and launched O’Shea80 Music Publishing following his 2004 ASCAP Plus Award for his songwriting contribution and work with GRAMMY Award-winning artists Tom Scott and Ann Nesby’s 2003 single, “You Are My Everything.” He is also a former field marketing representative for Warner Music Group and TVT Records.
Cooper, a self-described “solivagant” splits his time between Los Angeles and Amman, Jordan. He is an honors graduate of Benedict College.
